Stylist Nita Lachelle

About

Since 2007, Renita Fortson has been creatively working hands-on within the fashion industry. Beginning with Chicago photographer Sheldon McCullough of the SM Group, Renita started assisting on the set of photo shoots helping artists/models create their style concepts and looks. Being a freelance model herself, Renita was able to lend valuable insight and a creative outlook in the process.

Her continued involvement in the beauty and fashion industry can be directly attributed to her childhood dream of becoming a supermodel like her idol Naomi Campbell. Renita can remember watching Campbell strut down London's fashion week runway on television and saying to herself, "I want to be a model just like Naomi!!!". After a few attempts in the "Big Apple" and a few photo shoots in Chicago, Renita realized that her passion wasn't necessarily modeling as it was fashion and putting different looks together....that's what she really enjoyed! From there Renita decided to focus her attention on styling and personal shopping. While working as a client stylist for White House Black Market, Renita decided to reach out to her alma mater IADT-Chicago and lend a helping hand for their popular annual "Imagine" fashion show at Chicago's Union Station.

This, amongst other styling internships, sparked a fire in Renita that she always knew she possessed. Her passion for helping people achieve their ideal image while building confidence and self-esteem is what drives Renita to put her all in each and every client.

"Styling is more than just playing dress up, its about re-inventing oneself and creating your personal brand. What do you want your brand to say? Classic and professional yet chic or bold and versatile yet edgy? The awesome part is, its your choice!" Renita realizes that sometimes people need that extra push to get them out of their comfort zone and into something different, while others prefer to play it safe but add a little "life" to their wardrobe. Whatever your need is, she's the woman for the job!

Currently, Renita does one-on-one freelance work with urban tee designer and owner Tabitha Walker of Fashion Faddy. She assists with styling models for the line's fashion shows and marketing projects. Before she turned her lifelong interest in fashion into a career, Renita worked for well-known retailers such as: Aldo, Dress To Impress, Ann Taylor, and The Limited. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising and Marketing and is currently enrolled at the Airbrush Academy where she is pursuing her Airbrush Makeup Certification which she will also add to her professional portfolio.
